HVAC Repair and Installation in Bloomington-Normal, IL

Heating, air conditioning, ventilation and ductless units. Repairs when something quits, replacement when repairing stops making sense, and maintenance so neither happens at the worst moment.

Pick your season

Which season gives you trouble

What you are noticing

Rooms that never warm up

  • The furnace runs and runs and the thermostat never catches up
  • One room is always ten degrees behind the rest of the house
  • It kicks on, runs a minute, shuts off, then starts again
  • A smell or a noise that was not there last winter

What we do about it

Where we start

  • Furnace repair and replacement
  • Ductless heat for rooms the system never reached
  • Ductwork checks, because the furnace is often not the problem
  • Maintenance before the first cold snap rather than after

Both seasons

HVAC work we do all year in Bloomington-Normal

Install

New systems

Furnaces, air conditioning and ductless units, sized for your house rather than the one next door.

Repair

When it quits

We find out what actually failed before quoting a replacement you may not need yet.

Airflow

Ventilation and ducts

The cold room is often a duct problem, not an equipment problem. It is worth checking first.

Upkeep

Maintenance

Booked before the season rather than during it, which is also when you are not waiting in a queue.

The question everybody asks

Repair it or replace it

Usually repair

Worth fixing

  • The unit is middle aged and has been reliable until now
  • One part failed and the rest of the system is sound
  • The repair is a fraction of what a replacement costs
  • You are planning to move within a couple of years

Usually replace

Time to move on

  • You have paid for two or three repairs in as many years
  • The repair cost is creeping toward a meaningful share of a new system
  • It never kept up properly even when it was working
  • You are staying put and tired of wondering

Straight answers

HVAC questions from Bloomington-Normal homeowners

One room is always too hot or too cold. Is that the furnace?

Often not. It is usually airflow, ductwork or insulation, and replacing equipment will not fix any of those. We would rather find that out before you spend money on a new system.

Would a ductless unit work in my addition?

That is exactly what they are for. Additions, sunrooms, converted garages and upstairs bedrooms that the main system never really reached.

Can you handle HVAC inside a remodel?

Yes, and doing it while walls and ceilings are open is far cheaper than coming back afterwards. It runs on the same schedule as the rest of your project.

How often should it be serviced?

Heating before winter and cooling before summer is the usual rhythm. Booking ahead of the season also means you are not waiting behind everyone whose system just quit.

Do you give a written quote for a new system?

Always. Costs, timeline and what is included, in writing, before you agree to anything.

My bill went up but nothing changed. Why?

Equipment losing efficiency, ducts leaking into an attic or crawlspace, or insulation that stopped doing its job. Worth looking at all three rather than guessing at one.
